Igea’s GIS team at FOSS4G Europe in Paris
The European edition of Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial (FOSS4G) Conference was held at the end of July in Paris. Following the tradition, representatives of the Igea software company from Varaždin participated in the event once again.
Igea’s developers are regular visitors and speakers at this conference since 2010, and this year the company was represented by Igor Bremec, Marko Škvorc and Marko Turković. This year’s topic - developing open source software with application in geographic information systems - attracted about 300 participants who had the opportunity to attend about 100 sessions and 17 workshops.
Škvorc and Turković have presented Igea’s projects during two sessions - ASIG Geoportal developed for the Albanian State Authority for Geospatial Information and geospatial IGEO platform Igea uses in developing its GIS projects.
IGEO enables the implementation of the WebGIS system in accordance with the guidelines of the European directive INSPIRE. The directive is focused on the construction of European spatial data infrastructure, in order to make it more accessible, and to facilitate the exchange and use in different systems.
Both sessions attracted a lot of interest. The participants’ reactions confirmed that Igea's solutions were in accordance with the existing trends, and that the company is at the European top when it comes to GIS solutions on open source software.
